"Royal Twist" is the thirty-third episode of Storm Hawks.

Plot[]

On a scouting mission, Piper discovers a strange light from the unknown Terra Klockstoppia and meets Princess Peregrine, a woman who could pass for her twin except for a small difference. The princess, who prefers to be addressed as "Perry", longs for adventure beyond the walls of the castle, but her life is dictated by the Regent, the acting ruler of the terra. The two are amazed at each other's lives, but for different reasons: Piper respects Perry for being a princess and is amazed at the lack of modern crystal technology, while Perry envies Piper's "action-packed" life of a Storm Hawk. Perry decided to start her adventure, by knocking Piper out and taking her place along with the heliscooter. However on her way to the Condor, Perry struggles with the heliscooter controls, crash landing on the hangar. As the Storm Hawks come to her aid, she mistakenly addresses Radarr as Finn, with the rest of the team thinking that she has an amnesia following the accident. Perry soon finds out that Piper's life is not as adventurous as she originally thought, as Piper has many responsibilities, and her lack of knowledge about Piper's duties ultimately led to a blackout on board the Condor due to crystal energy starvation. Although the Storm Hawks managed to salvage their airship temporarily, Perry suggested that they travel to Klockstoppia to retrieve more power, using a giant hamster wheel as a makeshift generator manually operated by Aerrow, Finn and Junko.

Back on Klockstoppia, Piper wakes up to find herself in royal attire. At the same time, the Regent arrives and inform of an intruder that was captured within their grounds. Piper tries to explain what happened to the Regent, but her explanations are dismissed as wild tales of fantasy. Meanwhile, the intruder revealed himself to be a Nightcrawler, freeing himself with the help of crystals, before making his escape to gather a group of Nightcrawlers, on a mission from Master Cyclonis, to attempt to steal the stores of Crystals located within the caves of Klockstoppia. As the kingdom faced attacks from the nightcrawlers, Piper assumed control of the military, and at the same time requesting crystals from the Regent, only to be reiterated on the forbidden use of crystals. In retaliation, Piper (as the "princess") declared the use of crystals legal.

While the Storm Hawks were still running on the hamster wheel, Aerrow notices a small "bump" on "Piper's" arm, which she says is the Royal Seal of Klockstoppia, accidentally revealing her true identity. The trio got off the wheel and demanded the whereabouts of the real Piper, but were reminded by Stork to keep on powering the wheel. Nevertheless the Condor managed to land on Klockstoppia.

Piper tries to fight the nightcrawlers off by herself, but with the best weapons available on Klockstoppia being cannons that fire oranges, she was subdued quickly. Fortunately for her, Perry returned with the Storm Hawks. As the Storm Hawks exhausted most of their crystal power to make the trip, they resorted to melee combat, but the fight turned in favour of the nightcrawlers with the use of a powerful crystal. Just then, Piper and Perry exploited the Night Crawlers' aversion to sunlight with Solaris Crystals, driving them off. After the battle is over, Perry decides to take full control over the kingdom, as it is her birthright, Piper happily returns to the Storm Hawks and Regent is now Perry's servant as his punishment for not using crystals believing they are "forbidden", being dished out the very same tasks he had assigned to the princess earlier.
